MIIT: China Added 8.497 Million Phone Users In April 2010
China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has published the performance statistics of China’s communication industry for April 2010 on its official website, stating that the number of phone users showed a net increase of 8.497 million, reaching a total number of 1.094 billion.
MIIT stated that from January to April 2010, China’s telecom industry realized accumulated revenue of CNY967.38 billion, a year-on-year increase of 21.7%; and that revenue from the major businesses was CNY284.55 billion, a year-on-year increase of 5.7%.
In April 2010, the number of China’s phone users increased by 8.497 million to 1.094 billion, including the loss of 1.132 million fixed line phone users and the increase of 9.628 million mobile phone users.
More detailed statistics show that from January to April 2010, the number of fixed line phone users decreased by 6.139 million to 307.549 million; the number of mobile phone users increased by 39.117 million to 786.501 million.
For the Internet sector, the broadband users of basic telecom operators increased by 7.795 million in the first four months of 2010 to 111.02 million.
