N.J. ‘Tea Party’ group aims to recall senator

A New Jersey appeals court this day gave a tactical boost to an effort, led by a Tea Party group in the state, to recall Sen. Robert Menendez.
The court ruled against New Jersey’s secretary of state, who refused to let the group circulate petitions to get a recall measure on the ballot. The secretary of say stated recalling a U.S. senator would violate the U.S. Constitution and therefore refused to let the group proceed with its petitions.
But the court stated New Jersey law explicitly gives voters “the power to recall … any United States senator or representative elected from this state.” For that reason, the court said, in an unsigned unanimous opinion, the secretary of say must accept the petition.
As for the bigger question, of whether such an effort would violate the federal Constitution, the court stated it was expressing no opinion. ”We should not be understood as passing on the ultimate validity of the recall process regarding a United States Senator or any other underlying issue,” today’s decision said.
The court put the effect of today’s ruling on hold to give the say and Menendez the opportunity to appeal.

Since when is FR running re-runs???
To all you Palin-haters in the fake America of the lower 48, you need an education on this great woman and her family!
The insults to Todd are particularly upsetting. I guess you non-Alaskans do not know the full story on him. In 1991, Todd Palin was awarded the Medal of Honor for leading a commando raid into Baghdad that freed two dozen American POW’s from Saddam… Troops that served underneath him described his unwavering heroism, and claimed he single-handedly killed over 50 of Saddam’s most elite guardsmen. In 2004 when American marines were pinned down in Fallujah, commanders radioed for the only man they thought could save them – Lt. Col. Todd Palin. He was paratrooped into Fallujah under cover of darkness… 2 hours later, the marines walked out in victory. General Petreaus called Todd “the bravest man he has ever known” and “the finest soldier in the history of the American military.”
So when you see these horrible things written about Sarah and her family of patriots, please remember that none of these sick people have served in the military capacity Todd has, and should just shut up!
God bless all true patriots and Christians! Sarah talks for me!

Tryed getting this in on 1st thoughts thread:
The GOP have slowly Morphed into a RightWingTalibanBibleThumping Party(this thread as evidence)! It began when Tricky Dick was Forced to Resign the Presidency. Ever since then, the GOP have tried every Deviate Political manuever available to them. They come close with Clinton, but Cooler heads Prevailed.
The ageing process Deletes brain cells daily(trust me), but 24-7 news & some very Smart posters on here(Jody for sure) jog the History cells from time2time.
Watching the Lipton Teabaggers(some of it) on MSNBC, reenforces my call that, until someone is brought upon Treason charges(Michelle Bachman comes to mind) for being an Enemy against the State, the Absolute Stupidity we see, will never stop! Bachmans call for Citizens to Not fill out thier Census forms, & now, her call, for Citizens to Stop paying Federal taxes(Both Federal Offenses), is why i say She is a Prime candidate to be charged with Treason.
I do not know if AG Eric Holder has the gumpshun for such a call(Treason), but one things for sure, I along with countless other’s would stand by it!
You Betcha!
I’m gonna havta call my son down the road(he’s the Hunter in the Family), to see if Alaskan Wild DingBat season is in!

Much as I do not like Menendez, this is a slippery slope. The threshold for a recall should be high. Otherwise, in a closely divided state, you could be having a recall election any time the political winds change.
Ron, Indiana: Interesting Final 4 picks. New Mexico would definitely be a surprise, but there is a reason they got a 3 seed. Fun times!

I’m not playing to party roles with the following comments, neither right or left, but I think that
the capability to recall elected officials is a very
good idea. If someone in the private sector doesn’t do a satisfactory job, then can be fired for the infraction(s), so why should public office be held to the same level of accountability…..as in the end, they work for us, and if the collective “us” decide they aren’t doing a good job for “us”, then by all means, we should have the power and authority to fire them….and this alone, it would seem, would have a large impact on the “self-service” mentality that pervades so much of Washington today.

On a different topic… Israel.
It’s nice to see an administration not just bending over for every time they do ANYTHING. I do not care if you are Arab, Jewish, Russian, Chinese, Japanese, Hispanic, Korean, Caucasion, Indian, what EVER, if you are being an A-HOLE or violating civil rights, or just being obnoxious you should be called out on it…period!
