Journey for PS3 Planned for Spring 2012 Release

The uncommon looking PS3 title Journey, which has been grabbing quite some eyeballs ever since its first images surfaced on the web, is aimed for a spring 2011 release. Speculations about the game’s 2011 launch were put to rest by thatgamecompany by announcing its launch plans on the PlayStation blog.
It was also revealed by the developer that the title’s closed beta went ‘very’ well. It is also believed to have received ‘great’ feedback from players who got a chance to get their hands on this beta. Furthermore, thatgamecompany is looking to add ‘a ton of care and polish’ to the final version before its launch in spring next year.
“For the past few months, we kept getting asked about Journey’s release date,” commented, Jenova Chen, Creative Director, thatgamecompany, on the blog. “Yes, we haven’t stated anything about our release in a while mainly because we really couldn’t tell. And we don’t want to throw out a date that we are not sure about, and later disappoint our players.”
The game will put players in the shoes of a robed figure in a vast desert who needs to reach a far-off mountain. Being an on-line title, gamers would possess the capability meet other players on the same journey. They will be able to assist each other, but would not be granted to communicate via speech or text. Moroever, they shall not even be shown each others’ name.
thatgamecompany has announced that Journey will be distributed via PSN for the PS3 and in spring 2012.
