DC Universe Online Celebrates Holidays with New Season’s Greedings Update

Said to imbibe the game with fun things to do and a new festive look, the Season’s Greedings update is now live for DC Universe Online. Both Gotham City and Metropolis have apparently been festooned in order to celebrate the season. Moreover, a holiday themed event which includes new characters, also makes its way into the MMORPG with this update.
According to a post on the official PlayStation blog, a fresh character named Larfleeze who is the leader of the Orange Lantern Corps has been added to the game. Those wondering what the latter is, must know that this group is a rival of the Green Lanterns, just like the Red Lanterns or the Sinestro Corps. They are powered by the orange light of avarice (greed) and their chief Larfleeze has managed to steal Christmas presents to keep them for himself. It is up to the players now to track these presents down and return them safely to whomsoever they belong to.
“Hope you’re enjoying the most wonderful time of the year – the holiday gaming season! One of the chief perks of a massively multiplayer on-line game is that the developers have a lot of freedom to make changes to the world, including creating special events throughout the year. In DC Universe Online, we’ve just begun our new holiday-themed event Season’s Greedings, which gives players fun new things to do set in a festive new look,” explained Lorin Jameson, Executive Director of Development, Sony Online Entertainment.
Furthermore, the developer has also introduced some new holiday items to the in-game market place and vendors. Launched in January this year, DC Universe Online was made free-to-play in October for the PS3 as well as PC. It currently offers three levels of play – Free, Premium and Legendary, depending upon the length of time spent by gamers in the title before it went free.
The new Season’s Greedings update for DC Universe Online can be accessed by players only till January, 2012.
