X Factor’s Olly Murs is top of the charts
Their 1992 hit Killing In The Name was crowned Christmas number one after a world wide web campaign to keep another of Simon Cowell’s acts off the festive top spot.
However, McElderry’s single The Climb did reach the top of the charts for the New Year number one a week later.
Taio Cruz’s single Dynamite, which was number one last week, dropped to third position as Katy Perry scooped second place with her new single Teenage Dream.
Eminem’s hit Love the Way You Lie, featuring Rihanna, was in fourth spot while Flo Rida’s Club Can’t Handle Me came in fifth.
Perry will not be too disappointed for missing out on the top spot because her new album, which has the same title, reached number one in the album charts.
Eminem’s record Recovery, which was the number one album last week, dropped to second position.
