Stars to turn out for Emmy Awards

Other British talent recognised include five-times Emmy nominee Hugh Laurie who is nominated for lead actor in a drama series for his role as Dr Gregory House in House.

He is up against actors including Mad Men star Jon Hamm and Steve Buscemi, recognised for his role in prohibition-era drama Boardwalk Empire, for the award.

That show also sees Scottish actress Kelly Macdonald nominated for her role as housewife Margaret Schroeder in the supporting actress in a drama series category.

Idris Elba also gets a nod for his portrayal of out-of-control cop John Luther in the BBC1 series Luther with a nomination for lead actor in a miniseries or movie.

Tom Wilkinson’s performance in The Kennedys, where he played JFK’s dad Joe, sees him nominated for supporting actor in a miniseries or movie.

Scottish actor Alan Cumming is nominated in the supporting actor in a drama series for his role as Eli Gold in The Good Wife and So You Think You Can Dance presenter Cat Deeley gets a nod in the reality show host category.

Also recognised is former Friends star Matt LeBlanc with his role in BBC comedy Episodes seeing him nominated for outstanding lead actor in a comedy series.

The awards will be hosted by Glee star Jane Lynch.
