Sir Paul McCartney and Nancy Shevell to live in England after register office ceremony
Miss Shevell described the proposal as “a total surprise”.
She stated the wedding would be “just our families” and that since it would be a civil ceremony she did not know how “dressy” the occasion would be.
Miss Shevell was formerly married to Bruce Blakeman, a lawyer with whom she has a 19-year-old son, Arlen, for more than 20 years.
After spending American Mother’s Day with her son she flew to Lima, Peru yesterday where Sir Paul was performing in concert.
The former Beatle has four adult kids (one adopted) with his first wife Linda who died of breast cancer in 1998.
He has a seven-year-old daughter, Beatrice, from his second marriage to Heather Mills whom he divorced in 2008. He is thought to keep his home in Britain as a base to remain close to his youngest child.
Sir Paul and Miss Shevell have been dating for around four years.
