Amy Winehouse’s dad powerless against her addictions
In an emotional interview with chat show host Piers Morgan, Mr Winehouse explained that his daughter had replaced her dependance on cocaine and heroin with an addiction to alcohol.
He stated that in the last three years his daughter had not taken any drugs, but expressed his frustration that he was unable to help her beat her addictions.
“When somebody is an addict they have to deal with it in their own way. The only way that the family can help is to be there to love and support them,” he said.
Amy Winehouse was found dead at her flat in north London on July 23. An inquest was opened into the cause of her death after the initial post-mortem examination proved inconclusive.
