Mermaid's Dampier employees to strike
Employees at Mermaid Marine’s Dampier Supply Base will commence industrial action over the negotiations of a new enterprise agreement later this week.
The employees intend to engage in overtime bans for an indefinite period commencing at 1500 on Friday, October 7.
The proposed action would involve about 30 supply base employees covered by an enterprise agreement with the Maritime Union of Australia and was unlikely to impact on Mermaid’s slipway or vessel operations.
The Company stated in a statement that it was surprised and disappointed at the latest strike action given it had been dealing in good faith with the Union and employee representatives.
